Harry Potter is back!
That’s right folks, and this time he’s inspiring fans to step-up and donate either their time, energy or money to a good cause – the Harry Potter Alliance.
The HPA fights the Dark Arts in the real world by using wizard extraordinaire Harry Potter to promote human rights and equality for children. Just like Harry and his friends did throughout J.K. Rowling’s popular series of books.
With the help of volunteers, the HPA has:
- Sent five cargo planes to Haiti
- Donated over 88,000 books
- Has made significant contributions to anti-genocide, LGBTQ equality, environmental and media reform movements
At the moment, the HP Alliance are also in a discussion with Warner Bros to make all Harry Potter chocolate Fair Trade – and that my friends can only be a good thing – hhmmm, chocolate…
J.K. herself has given a sterling recommendation about the charity in a letter to Slack, “The HP Alliance is, without doubt, the purest expression of ‘the spirit of Albus Dumbledore’ yet to emerge from the Harry Potter fandom.”
